Increasingly, organisations are recognising the value of being able to share information confidently internally and publish it externally. The Australian Government's response to the Productivity Commission's report into data use and availability and the establishment of the Office of the National Data Commissioner mean that businesses and Australian Government agencies are going to be encourages and expected publish more data.

However, as the re-identification of Medicare data by researchers in 2017 demonstrated, protecting privacy when publishing data is not straightforward.

This workshop will explore ways of classifying data according to its sensitivity and ways in which high-value datasets could be de-identified for publication. It will include hands-on exercises and case-studies involving real datasets.
